A puppy is a lifetime commitment.

Standards require a tremendous amount of attention, dedication, love and Care.

Grooming is essential for a Standard, with regular combing, and brushing every few days to keep from matting. Actually I cannot emphasize combing nearly enough!! Keeping those tangles out is key to having a comfortable poodle!! Every 6-8 weeks they will need clipped, they can be taken to a professional groomer, or you can learn to clip, scissor & trim nails yourself like I do…its a great way to spend quality bonding time with your dog, and helps create trust. (Muddy Creek Grooming DVD) was introduced to me by my breeding friend and like she said” I couldn’t explain it better myself”. It’s a valuable tool and will save some money if you have the time. Talk to me about tools I use such as comb’s & brushes I can send you photo’s of mine with the brand that will keep matt’s away if done regularly. I do lots of touch ups with my girls they LOVE the extra love & kindness. They will be that much happier to work for you. Don’t forget patience if you’re not up to it that day wait until the next, you’ll both feel more at ease.

Although Standards are extremely intelligent and eager to please, they require ongoing training just like any other dog. We start at 8 weeks they can learn something new in a day or two - Like a friend says “they are little sponges” at this age so keep up the little bit of work everday and you will be so rewarded! Love, Kindness & Respect is the goal to achieve with your companion.
